Kid what are you talking about? This game outsold the WHOLE Halo franchise, it sold as much as ELDEN RING. In an era where racing games were simply today cheap mobile car simulator games that doesnt let you speed up and touch the walls, this game let you destroy the whole city with pure unhinged vandalism, it had around 1300 police voice lines describing each car, street and what you were doing. Its police chase has its own soundtrack list that is dynamic and changes during the pursuit flawlessly depending on what is happening. No other racing game ever managed come close to what this game has done. 20 years later, they still talk about this game after every other racing game released because people still want this.

I love this game very much the VIBES you get from this game is just so good you can just listen to the awesome soundtrack in the menu it’s like you are in a car show/event for Carguys/Girls

Just like to make a small correction, unless you're playing Undercover and Carbon if your car gets impounded you *CAN* get it back after doing enough races and paying a release fee.

Isn't the canyon duel somehow similar to how the "touge" works? 2 rounds at mountain pass, got to lead or follow each time, while the result is determined by who has the overall closer gap to the leader or the one who can overtake the leader

I recently started playing this again on the ps2 and the biggest problem i have with the game is the goofy-ass-handling. I like the general idea of this game; outruns are back, highway battles are a nice idea etc but it just feels a little lackluster. I wouldn’t mind the graphics if the gameplay was on point

I love it when the game where you are just a bad guy, not a vigilante or hero but just a badass. Imagine the city cost for all the destruction left in our wake, absolutely nation wide villain.😂

Darius is like a character from 90210. Muscle cars ARE garbage in racing games, they not only make them handle like a commercial jet, but they make them dog slow, even in drag racing. It's a disservice.

He better not bash the hell out of it cuz this was my favorite out of all the need for speeds I ever played now I'm biased as fuck because it was my first need for speed but I love the hell out of this game

The game was memorable, and I still have my copy for the 360. While people have raved over the attention to detail of how on point the virtual tracks were to their real world counterparts, I was struggling with the graphics by their wooden appearance. The atmosphere was very two dimensional and glitchy. There wasn’t any real concept of shadow or depth to objects or figures. Why? ProStreet took a step backwards from games that had better graphics. Makes no sense. In the end the graphics grew on me, and I had a fun time. I really was fixed on the drift events and repeatedly ran those courses with my trusty Porsche GT2, to rack up money to afford some of the higher end hypercars such as the Lambo LP640 for grip and the Pagani Zonda F for speed. The only king car I wanted to keep was Ray Creigar’s BMW grip car. I traded the rest. I actually never got to beat the grip king, and dreaded taking on the remaining speed challenges; especially the canyon runs. They’re just a bitch to get through. I had bought the game guide you could get to help you along, but don’t remember looking up on how to survive a speed run. It’s been a while. I spent most of the time buying and styling cars. So much fun! 😁

Recently played this masterpiece again. On PC + Extra Options + Fast Travel/Teleportation Mod

I remember getting NFSU2 on PC as a bonus to a Pizza Hut meal deal which i begged my dad to get.

The gameplay of the older NFS are still better than the new ones. I personally think better graphics and trying to make the game too realistic ruined racing games for me.

I liked Need for Speed Undercover, I had fun, the story was pretty cool

I use to get adrenaline rushes like crazy from this playing it high as a kite as a nineteen year old, those were the days.
